APEX Studio Black Shadow 1/4 Statue: An Original Character in Resin

Original character statues live or die on the design.

There is no franchise to lean on, no recognition to carry the purchase and no story to explain why the figure matters.

Everything rests on the sculpture.

The Black Shadow Statue from APEX Studio arrives at 1/4 scale with a listed height in the 26–35 cm range, and it carries an 18+ classification.

That combination puts the design under close examination.

Reading an Original Design

Licensed characters come with a correct answer. Collectors compare the sculpt against the source and judge the result.

Original designs have no source, which changes what you evaluate.

Instead of accuracy, you look for coherence. Do the costume, pose and base agree with each other? Does the figure look like it belongs to a world?

That is a slower judgement, and it is why original work tends to attract collectors with settled taste rather than completists.

That is the bar a Black Shadow Statue has to clear, and the gallery is where you judge it.

One Quarter at 26–35 cm

The listing records 1/4 scale and a height range of 26–35 cm.

That spread runs lower than quarter scale usually implies, which suggests a seated or compact composition rather than a full standing figure.

Treat the centimetres as the reliable number, and check the gallery for a shot that shows the whole piece.

Depth matters as much as height on a compact 1/4 piece, since bases and poses extend forward.

For a Black Shadow Statue the footprint matters more than the height, because the composition sits low rather than tall.

The 18+ Classification

The statue carries an 18+ female classification.

Stating that plainly is more useful than stepping around it. This is an adult-oriented collectible, and collectors who prefer family-friendly displays should take the listing at face value.

For collectors whose shelves already hold adult-oriented resin, the piece fits that company without needing its own corner.

Reading the Sculpt

Three details decide whether an original design works.

The face comes first. With nothing to compare against, the expression has to establish a personality on its own.

The costume comes second. Dark palettes hide detail quickly, so matte and gloss sections need clear separation.

The base comes third, and it should support the figure without competing with her.

Compare the gallery against all three before committing.

Price, Deposit and Payment

Pre-orders run from a $209 deposit against a $799 full payment.

That places the release in the upper half of the current 1/4 market.

The deposit option reserves a piece now and settles the balance later, which suits a window measured in months.

Freight is a separate line item at this size, so check the quote before committing.

Display and Lighting

The palette runs dark, which makes lighting the deciding factor.

Flat ambient light merges dark surfaces into one tone. A single hard source does the same from a different direction.

Two soft sources at different heights keep the sculpt readable and preserve the finish variation.

Place the piece at or slightly below eye level, and keep it out of direct sun.

Care and Storage

Dust with a soft brush rather than a cloth, working from the top downward.

Where the surface needs more, use lukewarm water with a drop of mild soap and dry it completely.

Keep the original packaging and the foam inserts. Original character runs rarely come back.

Who This Statue Is For

Collectors who buy original character work will find this consistent with what the category offers.

It also suits anyone whose shelves have filled with licensed characters and want something outside that structure.

And for collectors whose displays already lean toward adult-oriented resin, the piece fits without disruption.
