Getting that wrong produces something that looks like an oversized action figure. Getting it right produces the sense that the figure belongs to a different order of being entirely.

That is accurate to the setting, and it is also the hardest palette to display well.

Under flat ambient light, dark armour collapses into a single shape and the heraldic detail disappears. Under one hard spotlight, the opposite happens — the piece reads well from one angle and as a dark mass from every other.

The practical answer is two soft sources: one above and slightly forward, and one lower down to lift the armour from underneath. The LED helps as well, because it adds light inside the figure rather than on it.

Avoid a dark backdrop for the same reason. The statue reads better against a lighter wall, where the silhouette is the darkest element in the frame.

Who This Statue Is For

Warhammer collectors who want a display piece rather than another miniature have few options at this scale. This is one of them.

It also suits anyone building a dark-fantasy or grimdark section who wants a centrepiece that sets the tone for the rest of the shelf.

And for collectors who already display large-format statues, the LED makes this a piece that changes depending on when you look at it. Not every statue offers that.
